iSubtitle makes use of Apple's soft-subtitle technology, to allow you to create high quality subtitles for your movies. The real-time rendered subtitles are independent of the movie's resolution and they won't alter the video in any way. Also, the application can help you find the actual subtitles, in various online sources. Using iSubtitle is quite easy, even for beginners, due to its simple layout and well organized controls.

Once you run iSubtitle, you must import a video file, through an option in the menu bar. Videos are loaded into the application's own player. It allows you to play your movies in windowed or full screen mode and perform various actions, which you would in any other media player. Besides the various video formats it supports, iSubtitle can also support the MKV and AVI formats, if you install Perian on your Mac.

A series of options can be brought up on a drawer, by clicking an option on the application's toolbar. The options are sorted on several tabs and they allow you to import subtitle files, create chapters, edit the loaded video's metadata and insert an artwork image. If you don't have any subtitle files in your local folder, you can use iSubtitle's search function to look for subtitles in various online sources. Once you download a subtitle file, the application will offer to import it immediately.

Videos with soft-subtitles can be exported and played in any QuickTime-based player and they can contain subtitles in numerous languages. You can also play the movies on an iPad, iPhone or iPod.

Pros

Creating soft-subtitled movies is quite easy. The application can help you find all the subtitles you need in various online sources. Its controls are well organized and very easy to understand.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to mention. When creating subtitled videos with iSubtitle, the subtitles may look better than the actual videos.
